My name is Rachael Turner, and I am a junior attending Governor John R Rogers High school in Puyallup, Washington. After I moved to the United States from Kenya in 2011, I was exposed to many opportunities I did not have in Kenya. For example, Honor classes, and the choice for extra curricular activities. My education is my top priority and I thrive to be the best I can be in that category, maintaining a 3.6 gpa and higher. In addition, I participate in the top two auditioned choirs at my high school, Concert Choir, and Vocal ensemble. Despite of being academically inclined, I have been starter for my junior varsity waterpolo team for two years since freshman year when I was introduced to the sport. Prior to my freshman year of high school, I had no idea of an existing sport called waterpolo. The more I did research, and continued to play with my high school the first year, the more I fell in love with the sport. Even though the sport can be physically and mentally demanding, I deeply appreciate what it is. My first year playing waterpolo was actually the year I realized that waterpolo is my sport! With the few skills I have perfected, I brought great a challenge to my fellow team mates, and even some of the varsity upperclassmen on our Rogers team. Despite waterpolo, I use swimming to keep in shape. I am a varsity swimmer at Rogers High school and received the coaches award this year. Even though my AP classes and extra curricular activities occupy a large amount of my day, I also work at my local shoe store, Famous Footwear. I believe I would be a great candidate to the team considering my time management skills, docileness, resiliency, mental sharpness, determination to be the best, and growing passion for water polo and eagerness to learn more about the sport, and art of water polo.
