Hi, my name is Breanne Raquel Raya I am a 17 year old Senior at Costa Mesa High
School. I have a passion and fire for wrestling that can help me extend my enthusiasm when it
comes to reaching my goals in sports as well as academically. I have had a few bumps in the
road, but I have never wavered from giving up and becoming a female wrestler in college. I
want to pursue a job in Sports Medicine or find my passion in another major along the way. I
have been doing wrestling for about 5-6 years and before that I have been practicing BJJ since
I was 10. I get pure enjoyment from being able to wrestle others and rather if I win or lose I
always learn from the experience. I am willing to put in the work and push myself to my limits
and I am a team player, although wrestling is an individual sport, I get along with others and I
am willing to put in the effort to make my team better. I believe in encouragement and by each
team mate push each other every single day will make us stronger. I am a player who
cooperates and will put my coaches’ efforts to use. I listen and follow directions well and will
apply the advice to be able to adapt and grow as a wrestler. Academics are not an issue as I
am a good scholar and I stay up with my studies, although I am passionate about my sport I
know that my grades are my first priority when it comes to college. I will put in the extra effort
to be a good example student and athlete. I believe my priorities are in line with my goals and
although I am a younger athlete I have a dedication for my sport and a determination to excel
in both academics and athletics.
