My attention was grabbed by wrestling in fourth grade when my brothers joined. I wanted to be a part of something special, and wrestling provided that for me. Wrestling has influenced who I am by helping me build my character. It has disciplined me by developing mental toughness, feeling the victory of winning, and feeling the heartache of losing, but those traits help me continue to grow as as an athlete and a person. My academic goal for high school is to graduate with honors, and my goal for college is to maintain good grades academically, while still being able to focus on wrestling athletically.
An obstacle I’ve had to overcome is being the only girl on most of the teams I’ve been on. It took a lot of hard work, commitment, and mental toughness to prove myself. Ultimately, through wrestling I’ve learned that I am fully capable of conditioning my mind just as much as my body.
