My name is Addison Josi, and I’m a 16-year-old student at Tillamook High School in Oregon. I currently hold a weighted GPA of 4.3, which I’ve maintained while working part-time, raising animals for my county fair, and volunteering as a coach for our youth wrestling club. I plan to attend college to pursue a degree in forensic anthropology or study criminology and criminal justice.
I began wrestling in eighth grade on an all-boys team. That season, I competed against only two other girls and wrestled in the boys' division, finishing in the top three at the eighth-grade district championships. In my freshman year, I joined a full girls’ team and competed against others in my weight and age class. I narrowly missed qualifying for state, placing sixth when only the top five advanced.
Motivated by that experience, I began weightlifting with my coach during the off-season and attended as many wrestling camps as I could, focusing on improving my technique and listening to feedback. As a sophomore, I moved up a weight class to 170 pounds and qualified for state, placing in the top four at both regionals and the state tournament. During my junior year, I again competed at 170 pounds and earned second place at the state championships in both Folkstyle and Freestyle wrestling.
