My name is Ian Orr. As a child growing up in Pennsylvania, I was involved in several youth sports teams, including wrestling. In fourth grade, I chose to focus on baseball. My family moved to Alabama during my seventh grade year, and in eighth grade, I began wrestling for Springville High School where I fell in love with the sport again. During the off-season I train at Ironclad WC in Birmingham, AL. Ironclad has had several all-Americans at Fargo, Preseason Nationals in Iowa, and Virginia Beach. Ironclad even boasts a current Greco world team member. I spent last summer training to compete at Fargo and Iowa where I had some success in Freestyle. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted my ability to train with my club; however, I work out six days a week as well as focus on footwork and form at home. I look forward to being able to resume training with Ironclad soon. My wrestling goals for this coming year include being a team leader, encouraging my teammates to be the best that they can be on and off the mat, and to win a state championship. I am also training to compete at regional and national tournaments such as Virginia Beach and Fargo. My academic goals are to earn and maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA. I believe my strengths as a wrestler and a leader would be a valuable asset on a college team.
