Personal Statement
I have been wrestling for just under four years. From the moment I attended a practice with my best friend, I was hooked. Since that time I have been striving to becoming a better wrestler. Although it was a difficult process, my dedication, hard work, teachability, and excellent coaching staff have turned me into a skilled wrestler. In the short time I’ve been wrestling I have qualified for the CHSAA State Championships twice, placed 4th in state last year, placed 1st at the CUSAW 2021 Greco State Championships, 2nd at the CUSAW 2021 Freestyle State Championships and qualified and participated the 2021 Junior Nationals in Fargo, ND.
An important skill I have learned over the years is how to be aggressive in neutral. I have also learned to be very skilled at constantly moving while on bottom to get escape points. I have been blessed with a heart to lead others and I love to invest in and encourage my teammates. I am also very coachable, which has aided in my progression as a wrestler.
Although wrestling is my favorite sport, I play for my high school football team. I start at defensive end, and I’m currently ranked 2nd in the state in sacks for all 4A teams. I also enjoy playing golf. I have a high GPA of 3.67 (unweighted)/3.97 (weighted) and have been attending Pikes Peak Community College since my junior year of high school. I also volunteer in the cafeteria in my church every chance I get.
I aspire to wrestle at a university that values honesty, integrity, hard work that desires helping students and athletes reach their highest potential. I want to make my friends, family, and coaches proud with the things I accomplish on and off the mat. With hard work and knowledgeable coaches, I am sure I can be successful at the college level. I believe wrestling in college is an opportunity that only comes around once in a lifetime and want to take advantage of the time I have been given. I want to attend a college where I can push myself and invest in the lives of others.
