My name is Ioannis Rountos and I love wrestling. I began wrestling as a sophomore in high school. Over the last 10 months, I have continued wrestling in the off-season with two distinguished club teams. I have kept working on my strength training and conditioning as well as keeping my diet consistent and healthy. I love that the sport of wrestling requires a ton of focus and a high level of self-accountability.
As a JV wrestler, I went13-2, and all of my wins were won by fall. I am proud of my victory in the Jim Patton invitational tournament, where I won Most Valuable Wrestler and spent a total of just over 6 minutes on the mat across my 4 matches, finishing in 1st place. Some of my other top placings include 2nd at JV Worlds 2022 and 4th at my first-ever freestyle tournament, the CT Cup Freestyle Championships 2022. My coach recognized me as the Most Valuable Wrestler on the JV team. I believe the reason that I have been so successful is because of my hard work ethic and my drive to improve, which carries over into my studies. I want to continue wrestling in college so I can push myself athletically and academically.
I am interested in three possible collegiate majors, Business/Finance, Math, and Pre-med/Dentistry. For the most part, the size of the school does not matter to me. I am primarily looking for a college that can give me a competitive education as well as the ability to wrestle. I would prefer to attend a college in the Northeast, where my wrestling can contribute to my team's success. Regardless of where I wrestle, I will always dedicate myself 110% to my team and my coach.
