Since starting wrestling and rodeo, the two have taught me how to stay focused, stay committed, and that hard work pays off. Since getting beat out at regional wrestling as a freshman, I have made it a goal to work harder and do better than past seasons. I have enhanced my workouts to become more mobile and aggressive. As a sophomore, I had a minor setback at the beginning of the year but was fortunate enough to make it to state at heavyweight. Unfortunately I did not place. My goal this year is to place at state wrestling and hopefully win state my senior year. As a freshman and sophomore, I have lettered in wrestling. While my freshman and sophomore year grades were not great, as I was dealing with an eye convergence problem, I was able to adjust my eyes by completing eye therapy during my sophomore year. Now that my eyes are better, my grades have improved dramatically and my goal academically is to make honor role this year and my senior year. I think I would be a great college program asset because I am a team player, I love to get involved in my teammates’ matches, and I am a hard worker. My top finish in big tournaments was placing fourth in our regionals as a sophomore to make it to state. I have also placed many times at Kansas' Little Kids' State tournaments. I have placed fourth as a freshman and second my junior in the Abilene High School Varsity invitationals tournament and placed third and 2nd my junior year in the Mid-Continent League tournament as a sophomore. While working hard on my grades and wrestling, I have also been working hard at rodeoing. I compete in the team roping and also steer wrestling. Competing in multiple sports has taught me valuable life lessons including time management, social skills, and that there is no "off" season. I would be highly interested in being able to wrestle and rodeo for your college!
