I’ve always been competitive. I like to challenge myself. My coach gives me the tools and it’s up to me to use them. I love being on the mat. Wrestling is unique. I know that when I’m out there, it’s on me. I’m in charge of what happens - good or bad....I control my destiny.
I started wrestling at 3 years old. I wrestled my first match at age 4 on a club team coached by my great Uncle who I have great respect for. From a young age, he taught me what it takes to be not only a good athlete, but what it means to be a good person and teammate. Through wrestling, I have learned discipline, respect, sportsmanship and the value of working hard. Something he said to me around 8 years old has always stuck with me: “When I tell you to do something, there is always a reason for it.” Looking back, I guess it’s kind of a “Wax on, wax off” deal.
I hope to go be able to wrestle in college and expand my knowledge both academically and athletically. My work ethic will allow me to do both. I’m not afraid to put the effort in, and would love the opportunity to prove it.
