Junior year was an unforgettable experience for me. I walked into the wrestling room on the first practice and set my goal. To dominate on the mat and become the first Pelham wrestler to win New England's. In order to do that I had to train like my life depended on it. Five days a week I would practice with my school team, have a dual or tournament on Saturday, then go to a morning practice with my club. It paid off, I felt like a machine every time I wrestled. I only wrestled one full match during the regular season. When I qualified for New England's after winning All- Division, I felt great, but I knew I wasn't done yet. At New Englands I repeated the same statement in my head "I will not lose." I dominated through my side of the bracket and made it to the finals. Where a wrestled my rival from last year, someone I had beaten at last years New Englands in overtime. I ended up losing in ultimate tie breaker and now I use that loss to fuel me even more for nationals. Even with the Covid-19 epidemic I continue to train at home on my small mat, lift, and condition to prepare myself.
Wrestling is a sport that I enjoy doing because if you win or lose it's all on you, and I can’t imagine going to a school and not being able to wrestle. However, school comes first for me and I would like make sure that I can keep good grades while also excelling in my sport.
