I am a 3 year Varsity Wrestler at Marlboro High School. After my sophomore year I was elected captain. When my father inquired why a wrestler with a better record than mine was overlooked, my coach Charlie Frankel told him, “because I was more interested in character and the hardest worker in the room.” You see, generally speaking I am not “athletic” by most peoples standards. I am the inquisitive kid, the hard working kid, maybe even the nerdy kid, but “natural ability” would not be first on my resume. I am the guy that when someone says wow, how did he get so good in 2 years, my club coach Steve Rivera, father of D1 All American Sebastian Rivera will happily tell you, no one out works Zach in my room!
My collegiate goals are simple but focused. First, get a high quality education, while growing as a person and second, hopefully wrestle for a team where I can have a great coach as a mentor and become a key contributor and an even better teammate.
Overall, when you look at Zach Vasile, there are three things that come to mind. Great kid, highly coachable and hardest worker always looking for his “better” in everything he does!
