Personal Statement
I have been passionate about wrestling since I was four years old when I started going to practices with my dad. Throughout the years I have had many great mentors that helped develop my skillsets. However, many of those same mentors showed me how the sport of wrestling applies to life's best characteristics. One coach would often repeat his goal for me and others was "to help us be a hammer on the mat and a gentleman off of the mat." I am very eager to continue my wrestling endeavors at the college level while I pursue my college education. While I have enjoyed success in my wrestling career I am always looking for ways to better myself and have been told that I am a very coachable athlete.
My goals for my senior year have already begun. While I did not achieve my goal of placing higher this preseason at Super 32 and Preseason Nationals than I did last year, I took it as a learning moment to let me drive myself harder to prepare for the regular season. I let my conditioning prevent me from wrestling my best. Now that the regular season has begun I have picked up my pace to train harder so that I am at my peak when it comes time to compete. My goal is to beat last years 4th place finish at the OHSAA State Tournament and remain focused on becoming my high schools first state champion. I look forward to the opportunity of pursuing my educational goals while being a valuable part of your wrestling program.
