My name is Pierce Carpenter-Kydd and I am very passionate about wrestling. I started wrestling in middle school because I wanted to be able to stand up for myself and be a better person. I have grown a lot because of this sport both in my personal life and my athletic career. My biggest accomplishment has been placing 3rd at the South Carolina High School A5 State Tournament as a 160# Junior in 2022 even after 2 knee surgery.
My love for wrestling drives me to be a better person and athlete than I was the day before. It has shown me how a man should carry himself in life; how he should act when he wins and how he should act when he loses. I will carry these lessons with me for the rest of my life, applying them both personally and professionally.
My current athletic goals are to gain exposure by wrestling in more national tournaments and to win States my senior year.
When it comes to choosing a college I am looking for a school that offers great academics as well as competitive athletics. I am very open-minded about school size and location. Currently, my top two choices for fields of study are business and law enforcement, although I am open to exploring other options.
What I will offer your team is my best effort day in and day out; to never give up or quit. I lost by 1 point in the Blood round in 2020 at States and it's the first thing I think of every morning and the last thing I think of every night. That loss is what motivates every workout I do and when my workout is done I remind myself, “Someone else is doing one more sprint,” so I will do 10 more. My workouts do not end if I have the energy to do more. I will never again leave anything on the table. Winning is nice, and as much as I love to win, I hate losing more.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I look forward to speaking with you and answering any questions you may have about me.
