My name is Charles “Jett” Steckline from Chesapeake,Virginia and I am a class 2018 student (Junior) at Great Bridge HighSchool. I have been a starting varsity wrestler in each of my high schoolseasons (106, 113, and currently 126 LB weight classes). I have won numerous local, regional, andnational tournaments. I am also a 2-timeconference (5A-PenSouth and 4A-17) champion and Virginia State Placer.
Most recently, I was selected to represent the state ofVirginia while wrestling on the 2016 Virginia National Team last summer. Earlier this preseason, I won both theInterstate-64 Nationals and Virginia Beach Nationals.
I come froma family of college athletes. My grandfather, father and uncle all excelled on the football field for Division II schools, whileanother uncle was starting point guard for the University of Central Floridabasketball team. I was introduced towrestling my 8th grade year. Until then, I played and experienced success with football, travelbaseball and basketball. Myaggressiveness and competitive nature quickly provided early success on thewrestling mat. However, it wasn’t untilworking under Coach Matt Small and Virginia high school coaching legend WayneMartin that wrestling started to consume me. We expect to complete and have success at the national level thisseason.
I have agrade point average of 3.92 in a very challenging college preparatorycurriculum. I plan to major in BusinessAdministration as an undergrad, then obtain a Master of Business Administrationthereafter. I am extremely interested inyour university’s business program.
