As a kid one of my favorite things to do was watch my cousins’ wrestle. As I watched them compete for a spot at the state tournament, I became inspired to compete in the sport of wrestling. As a freshman and sophomore, I wrestled at state at the 182-pound weight class and didn’t place. However, I did not let these setbacks stop me as I continued to work on my craft over that spring and summer and ended up taking 3rd at state that next year at 195. Although this was a great improvement It was still not what I wanted. This past spring and summer I have been lucky enough to continue to improve myself and wrestle at larger tournaments across the nation to show how I match up against the rest of the country. Some of these tournaments that I got to compete at were the Freakshow, Super 32, the Florida Sunshine Duels, and the Battle in the Burgh duels in Pennsylvania where I went undefeated after getting to wrestle many other state champs and state placers across the country. Academically I believe that the learning aspect of college and life is just as important as what is done athletically. As I move forward, I have no intentions of slowing down my improvement and I believe that this quality will make me beneficial to your wrestling team at the college level.
