Personal Statement

I started wrestling when I was four years old. I began in the state of Missouri. During my time as a youth wrestler I obtained three state championships, took first at the World championships, placed fifth at nationals. I have also obtained many fifth place and third place state titles. Each year I wrestled I made it to state and placed at some level in state. As I began to get older I was training five days a week and wrestling both Saturday and Sundays, therefore; devoting my life to this sport. I continue to train and wrestle five days a week and weekend tournaments with my high school team. I worked hard as a youth wrestler to be a varsity starter and it paid off for me, as I  started  as a freshman on my schools varsity squad, and continue as a starter my sophomore year and now my Junior year. I know with my ability to continue to train and challenge myself, that I only have room for improvement and better things to happen in my school career. My high school career has had a rough start both my sophomore year and my junior year I was off the mat due to injuries. My Junior year I was devastated as I trained during the summer and off season for wrestling. My only goal was state. I found myself with a broken hand (broken at a joint). I was casted for over four weeks. Two days before sectionals I decided to cut my cast off and try my luck. I did managed to place 2nd at sectionals and 3rd at regionals without the use of a hand. I am going to continue to train during my off season to prepare for my senior year. I have full faith in myself that I have what it takes to continue wrestling past high school. I feel that with my ability to train, learn, and dedicate myself to this sport I will be a valuable asset to any college wrestling team. I look forward to beginning my journey through high school wrestling as I begin to look for colleges that will see what a value and asset I can be to their team.
