What the Coaches are Saying...
Jan 25, 2019

“Why do recruits choose your program and your school? We have been a very successful and stable program over the time that Coach Stan Zweifel has been the head coach. We are a small school that prides itself on having the best resources possible to give all students an opportunity to be successful. What is an interesting fact most recruits don't know about your program or your school? We have had multiple players get opportunities to continue playing after their time at UD is up, most recently being Michael Joseph (2017) with the Chicago Bears. What are your facilities like? Any recent expansions or future plans? Our facilities are some of the best in the Midwest. We have a turf game field only used by our program. UD has a half field indoor complex with a brand new weight room edition built onto it. Which three words best describe your team culture? Blue-collar, Gritty, Family Does your team have any road trip or travel traditions? We usually take one cross country trip for an away every other year. Every three years UD takes an international trip to play against another team. The most recent trip was to Ireland in the spring of 2018. What are some traits of athletes who have had success in your program? Hard working, dedicated, mentally tough to over come adversity. Did your team enjoy any major athletic or academic accomplishments this past year? Have you or your coaching staff won any major awards? We have been very competitive in the American Rivers Conference over the time Coach Zweifel has been head coach, finishing second in the conference last season. Our program currently holds a 93% graduation rate for players that complete all four years of eligibility in our program. What does an athlete need to do to stand out and earn a starting position on your team? They need to go about things in the right manner. They need to take care of things in the classroom first. Be a great representative of the university and program in the community. Lastly they need to put in the work that it takes to be a successful football player in the off-season.”
