In the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 76 mph. Began in a balanced stance, had a wrapping load and used a leg kick before his swing. Showed a flat swing plane. Pull side approach. In the infield, made throws at velocities up to 72 mph; has soft hands and smooth footwork. Had an-over-the-top slot with long arm action. Positional_Profile: SS/RHP Body: 6-foot-1, 145-pound projectable frame Hit: RHH. Balanced stance, wrapping load, leg kick stride. Flat swing. Power: 76 mph exit velocity. pull side approach. • Arkansas Preseason All State 1st Team Selection. Brian Walker (Arkansas PBR Director) Comments: 6-foot-2, 160-pound projectable frame. Starts in an open stance with a controlled compact load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed was above average, showed a short uphill swing plane and high finish. Found lots of barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Smooth in the box, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 87 mph. Advanced while in the infield, made throws up to 83 mph; has soft sure hands, a quick clean exchange, and athletic rhythmic feet. Above average his best position velocity in the outfield was registered at 84 mph; shows a clean exchange, athletic consistent feet, and soft hands. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball one hand. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a high ¾ slot with a loose arm action.

The bat speed and projectable power stand out. Matthew Guffey is a 2023 SS/OF with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Salem, AR who attends Salem. Long and slender projectable athletic build. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance, gets to his front side early, has good hand speed and some young bat speed, showed good pull power when he stayed back on the ball, projects well as a hitter as he gets stronger. 7.13 runner in the sixty. Plays both infield and outfield on defense, shows good arm strength with carry at both positions, showed more present polish in the outfield with good routes through the ball and nice fundamental footwork into his throws, still developing his internal clock and his release in the infield. Excellent student. Named to the Sunshine Gulf Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
