My name is Will Halberg, I am 6’ 3” and 210 pounds in my senior year in high school. Baseball has been my sport since I was very young and I have always dreamed of playing in the major leagues. I truly love nothing more than playing on the diamond. I want to play for a college or university that will develop me as a player and as a student.
It's hard for me to pick a primary position. Last year, I emerged as a true starting pitcher and DH for my team. Although I love to pitch, my favorite part of the game is hitting because, with a lot of work and focus, I became a true clean-up slugger. I am now a two-way player, where I focus on pitching and playing corner infield. Other than pitching, my favorite position is first base, but I have been taking more reps at third and right field to increase my versatility.
When hitting, I am the big, strong right-handed hitter in the lineup and hit 4th or 5th. I am discipled, I hunt my pitch and am not afraid to take the walk if given. My current max exit velocity is 94mph and my goal is 100mph. I've always been good at hitting the fast ball, but I've spend a lot of time recently learning to keep my shoulder in and timing breaking balls.
When pitching, I am that good velocity, reliable pitcher with a fastball, curveball, and changeup. My pitching coach calls the movement on my fastball a "turbo sinker." I can say that I've finally developed my curveball and added it as my "killer pitch" - which has been very effective in 0-2 and 1-2 counts. Since developing my curveball, I have started to retire a lot more hitters. I would love to add a slider to my mix.
When not on the mound, I usually play first base. I pride myself on my ability to stretch and scoop the ball, my nickname at first base is "The Landlord". At third base, I am good at fielding groundballs in the hot corner, and can make an accurate throw to first base for the out.
I am looking to play in college. I am easily coached and am consistently in the weight room and frequently work on my hitting. I am hard working and motivated. In the classroom I stay focused on getting my work done and always try my best. As of this year, I have a 3.9 GPA.
I play varsity at Shiloh Christian School in Springdale, AR. In the Fall and Summers, I play for Rawlings Arkansas Prospects and QR scout teams. I was named an All-Conference player and Reliever of the Year in 2024.
