Hey, I'm Nathaniel Lafon, and I'm currently a junior at Mills High School. Baseball has been my passion since I was just four years old, and it all began with the thrill of attending SF Giants games with my family. As a right-handed pitcher, I've dedicated myself to mastering the art of pitching and continually strive for excellence in the sport.
Academically, I've maintained a strong 4.0 weighted GPA, and I'm currently enrolled in challenging courses, including AP Statistics and AP Environmental Science. While I haven't received any major academic awards yet, I'm committed to balancing my academic and athletic pursuits.
On the baseball diamond, I achieved recognition as an All-League Honorable Mention during my sophomore season with the Varsity team, a moment that boosted my confidence and motivation. Additionally, I compete with the BelMateo Giants 18u team during tournaments, where I consistently challenge myself to reach new heights in the sport.
My dedication to improvement knows no bounds. During the offseason, I've been putting in the work, meeting with my pitching coach at Mills four times a week. His experience as a player for Missouri Western State has not only enhanced my pitching mechanics but also instilled in me the values of discipline, perseverance, and a growth mindset.
I'm a natural-born leader, and I take immense pride in being a role model for my younger teammates. Helping others improve their skills and contributing to their growth is something I genuinely enjoy. This leadership extends beyond the baseball field as I actively engage in my school and community, seeking opportunities to lead and make a positive impact.
What sets me apart as a pitcher is my background in dance. Since the age of four, I've been involved in dance because my mother owns a dance studio. This unique background has granted me remarkable flexibility and stability, qualities that enhance my performance on the mound.
Looking ahead, my goals are twofold. Firstly, I aspire to continue my academic and athletic journey at a college or university that values my commitment to both education and baseball. Secondly, I am determined to bring my work ethic, leadership, and unique background to a college baseball program, contributing not just as a player but as a supportive teammate and leader.
In closing, I'm enthusiastic about the college recruiting process and the prospect of joining a college baseball program. I'm eager to embrace new challenges, further develop as a student-athlete, and make a meaningful contribution to my future team's success. Thank you for considering me as a potential addition to your baseball program.
