September 2016
2016 HighlightsMy name is Jarred Perry. I am a Senior in the Jupiter Environmental Research and Field Studies Academy (JERFSA) at Jupiter High School. My enrollment in JERFSA means that my studies are not that of a standard high school student. Volunteer hours are far in excess of the normal high school student and more is expected of us as students and citizens. I have been working hard on my GPA, which has now reached 3.1. My enrollment in JERFSA means that classes include a combination of Honors and Cambridge accredited levels.
Although I am involved with JERFSA, I believe that I will follow another path after school and baseball. I most likely will be looking to study and work in the automotive field in some capacity. I do have a love of cars and all things mechanical. My family is deeply rooted in the aftermarket auto industry so I come by it honestly.
This past summer, was a combination of school, volunteering, baseball and work. JERFSA assigns several summer projects and I am also taking a class online to get an extra credit ahead of my Senior year. Work is fit in as time allows, but that consists of working in a fabrication shop learning to use several types of machines, including a CNC Plasma Cutter and welding. This fall my senior school load is made up of the typical classes with the addition of Zoology to finish out my Academy requirement. Presentation of my senior project is the one remining hurdle to attaining my JERFSA Medal at graduation.
As for Baseball, although I do enjoy many sports, I am focused primarily on Baseball. This summer I played with PBC Elite, a very competitive Summer Ball program that travels to several large tournaments put on by Perfect Game, Prospect Select and Team One Under Armour. PBC Elite is associated with SACSN (Student Athlete Community Service Network) based in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. This past fall I pitched in showcases for the Orlando Scorpions and also pitched in Jupiter High's fall baseball program organized for area high schools.
In addition to my school, work and volunteer load, I have been working with a gym that specializes in athletes. I am now 6’-1” and weigh 195 pounds. My foot speed is getting better and most say that my pitch velocity will increase due to my work ethic and to just growing into my body. One of my coaches says that I am a “man of few words” and have a quiet confidence in my abilities. This coupled with my desire, makes me the person and pitcher I am. My favorite pitch is the two seam fast ball and I have a really good curve. Next, I would like to gain better control of my slider to match up with my two seam.
I am looking forward to talking with school representatives about my hopes and dreams, whether it’s through sports or academics. I understand that school, like life, is a two way street and I am ready for the challenges that lay ahead.
Thank you for your time and consideration, Jarred Perry
