Kent Schmidt '23 Recruiting Profile

I am motivated  and committed to excelling  at the highest level, and take pride in achieving my goals with high character. I’ve experienced a lot of success in travel ball , and now high school, but always look to improve all aspects of my game. I would like to commit to a college program with a great baseball culture that values high character athletes , and be with others who are passionate about the game of baseball. I’ve had the privilege of being part of the Pope HS program, where we won this year's GA 6A state championship, sweeping our 10 playoff games and being ranked as high as #16 in the nation (Maxpreps) .   I’d like to be part of a college program with a similar winning culture. At Pope, we have a true brotherhood and play for each other, doing the little things it takes to win. I play 1st and 3rd base, and my teammates and coaches have been able to count on me as a leader and a positive influence on the teams I’ve played on.  I was honored to be nominated for Pope’s 2022 Positive Athlete Award and earned the ”Silver Slugger “ award, leading the team with a .463 batting average, as well as being named 1st  team  All- State ,1st team All-Region and 1st team All-County.  I’m looking to be able to contribute right away to a college program looking to develop great baseball players, but also a program that values doing well in the classroom and contributing to the community as well.
