The Mark I Make
A benefit of being involved in a beautiful and diverse society is being able to experience new things, create new relationships, and opportunities every single day. Today's world might not be at its strongest fulfillment and capability. However, I am still able to strive and learn from the struggles that I encounter later down the road.
As a student in high school, I know every kid that wants to go to college, wishes to continue their academic careers at their dream school. I have dedicated myself to become stronger not only inside of the classroom, but outside as well. I play baseball for my high school team, being awarded All-Conference in the Fox Valley, All-Academic All-State, Northwest Herald All-Area Fox Valley Conference 2nd Team, Daily Herald All-Area Honorable Mention, and Elgin Courier New All-Area Honorable Mention all in my Sophomore year! Also, I continue to reach outside of my comfort zone to experience new opportunities that will benefit me in my future. I have joined many different clubs to help strengthen my communication and social skills. I am a member of the Jacobs High School National Honors Society (NHS), which is a nationally recognized program that selects students to help elevate the society around them and bring positivity into the world. The selection of this program is based upon four criterias including: scholarship, leadership, service, and character skills. I am a member of the Jacobs High School Select Student-Athlete Leadership Council as well. This club has allowed me to develop more leadership skills which will help me lead my high school baseball team to success. But more importantly this course has made me realize what kind of leader I want to become in the future.
Now, I can easily just ramble on and on about the positive aspects in my life to help you see the bright side of me. However, that would not be telling you my whole background of my life. Everybody deals with hardships in different ways but it is important to know that these hardships will allow you to grow. For me, I have had asthma and allergies my whole life. It has had quite an impact on my sports career over the years. Having asthma almost nearly cost me my life. At times, I would struggle finding a gasp for air. I was always in and out of the hospital being diagnosed with different types of medicines to help contain my lack of oxygen and uncontrollable allergies. As I grew older, I outgrew my food allergies of peanuts, tree nuts, and eggs and I outgrew a majority of my asthma. I take a pill for my allergies daily and an inhaler to help open up my chest. I now only have seasonal allergies that are extremely more tolerable compared to when I was little. This event in my life helped me see what type of person I am. It showed me that I can overcome anything tough that is hit my way. In the future, I will be more open to change in my life and take in ideas from my surroundings. I will be able to overcome my fear of speaking in public by gaining more confidence to help fulfill my future plan of becoming an actuary or accountant, as well as, gain more healthy relationships with people. Relationships can be the key to my success in the long-run and I want to be able to take all the advantages I can to become a well-developed man and individual
