I have been playing baseball since age five and my passion for the game has increased each year. Through my first two years in high school, I started at Shortstop and in Left Field while also being part of the Pitching rotation. We won the Chicago Public League Championship both years, which was rewarding on both a personal and team level. After pitching a perfect game against Whitney Young my sophomore year, my focus has been on improving my velocity and mechanics. I played travel ball for the Chicago Mudcats and started at SS and as a member of the rotation. I went through a 12-week course over the summer of 2017 with Fastball USA which taught me proper arm care and how to become a more explosive thrower using advanced training techniques. My fastball sits in the upper 70’s to low 80's however I recently started incorporating weight training into my offseason workout regimen, which is already showing results.
My vision is to pursue a degree in Sports Management while playing competitive baseball as long as possible. Every coach I have played for has told me they see so much potential which drives me to work harder and prove them right. I am confident my skills will be a valuable asset to your team and my energy will provide a positive influence at practice and both on and off the diamond. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement. If you have any questions or would like to talk, please reach out to my contact information below
Respectfully,
James Lyman
