I attend a large high school, in 2021 I got the opportunity to split time between the Sophomore team and the Varsity team. With Covid cancelling the 2020 season, this was the perfect way to get the high school at-bats I needed at the Sophomore level while gaining experience and learning (and contributing!) at the Varsity level. This has set me up to succeed in 2022. Playing at two levels in high school also showed my versatility. While I’m listed as a catcher, I played every position (DH included) except first base in 2021. Oh and I’ve played first base, almost my entire fifth grade season was at first base because I hurt my right arm, instead of sitting out the season I played left handed. I will find a way into the lineup on a daily basis!
No one practices harder or has more fun than I do. While some guys coast at practice, I’m just has sweaty and dirty as if I’d played a game. I’m extremely coachable, I take instruction well, and am able to implement it immediately. This has also helped me become a good coach myself. I’m in my second season as an assistant coach for the junior high 8th grade team. I was also an assistant coach for pee-wee hockey team. I understand what it takes to be a leader and a good teammate. I look forward to bringing my energy and ability to a college team in 2024.
