Hello, my name is Eric Mickenbecker. In 2019 I will be graduated of Plainfield North high school. When I leave high school my goal is to continue on as a student athlete pursing a degree in chemical engineering. I’ve taken great pride in the hard work I’ve put in academically. My course load consisting of many honors courses in math and science. My parents instilled in me the strong work ethic which has earned me a 4.0 GPA through my Junior year and straight A’s though out most of my high school and pre-high school career.
I’ve always approached athletics with the same strong work ethic. I started playing baseball at the age of 6. I watched the older boys playing ball in the park and couldn’t wait to get into their game. I have a very competitive nature and really dislike losing, I’ve learned that just having talent and ability is not always enough, hard work and perseverance get you to your goal. My travel coach considered me a silent leader. I was not always the loudest guy on the bench, but I always led by example. I show up, practice hard, play hard, and respect my coaches and teammates. My athleticism has allowed me play every position on the field including catcher. Once I entered high school I focused on outfield and pitching. I consider myself an elite outfielder, but I realize there is more to learn and more hard work ahead.
School spirit is very important to me. I’m very active in supporting many of the activities of my school, not just the in which I participate. Having a sense of pride in the school you attend and represent is very important and major factor in choices I will make regarding my future education.
I’m working to finish my high school senior year strong and looking forward to moving on to the next chapter in my athletic and academic story. My path has not been defined but I am excited to start down the road.
