From the earliest memories I have of playing competitive sports, I've always been driven by getting as good as I can at my sport and devoting as much time as I could to it. I did competitive gymnastics for my entire life up until high school when I began to dive, which gave me the best possible foundation for my work ethic and attitude for beginning a new sport. To me, keeping a positive mindset no matter how practice went has always been one of the most valuable skills to have and I am grateful to have learned that early in life, along with other life lessons I got from gymnastics. Having to quit due to injury, I was unsure of how well I would fit into diving, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed practices and loved the thrill of flipping over water. Freshman year was my first season as a high school and club diver, and the improvements I saw that season were exhilarating. As a first-time varsity diver sophomore year, I went on to place 3rd at conference and 7th at sectionals. Diving in college has grown to be a big part of what I'd like to find in a college experience and I would love to be a part of a varsity swim and dive team. I'm always wishing I was at the pool, making corrections and getting better, and the energy on deck on meet days is one of my favorite feelings. I can't imagine my life without this sport and taking it into college would be a dream come true.
