My name is Levi Pingel, I am a 6’, 190 lb middle linebacker and running back from Cherokee, IA. Being a four sport athlete, participating in athletics has been something I have loved to do since I was very young. Football has always been my favorite. Regardless, I have always enjoyed being in the weight room and have developed an interest in athletic training/exercise science/physical therapy as potential career paths which I am exploring. My academic studies have also always been important to me, which I believe my GPA and membership in National Honor Society demonstrates.
As a student-athlete, I have learned that you must overcome adversity in many forms. Sometimes this adversity is an injury which cannot be “walked off”. In particular, a hip flexor injury severely hampered my sophomore baseball season, which was affected further by Covid-19 scheduling issues. Being injured and losing part of a baseball season as a result, has taught me that mental toughness and self-care are important in the world of sports. Weight training is something I have always enjoyed as a part of my efforts to get stronger and faster. I also understand the self-care importance lifting has too, ensuring further injuries do not occur.
I am excited to find the college experience that is “right” for me and helps guide me to a successful career. Although I do not know for certain what that career will be, I believe collegiate athletics can help to define that path. I look forward to learning more about your school’s academic and football opportunities as I move forward in this process.
