Derrek Lathon '20 Recruiting Profile

At the very early age of three my parents realized that I had a special gift as a student, athlete and individual. I have always excelled on and off the field. Academics have always been at the top of my priority list. My parents told me from day one that if I didn't take care of business in the classroom, I wouldn't have any business to take care of on the field. This became my red rubber ball, my motivation to work hard so I could play the two sports I love most, baseball and football.  So what makes me different from any other athlete? I can give you four things that make me unique and different from every other athlete:

1. I consider myself a student athlete who can get it done on and off the field
2. I have a plan A, B and C - as much as I would like to play on the next level I realize that it's important to have a game plan for on the the field and off the field.
3.  I believe that there are no elevators to success, I have to take the stairs - in other words I have to work hard in order to reach my goals on and off the field and I am committed to doing just that.
4. I am unique but not unprepared or unequipped with what I need to succeed, different but not deficient. I am uniquely me and the best me I can be! Finally, I would be an asset to any college team because I'm a team player and I'm your student athlete inside and outside the classroom. I am Derrek Lathon, Jr.
