Personal Statement
My name is Jack Overton and I am a right-handed pitcher in the Class of 2022. I started playing baseball at the age of 5 and became a pitcher when I was 9. Stepping on the mound and competing is the thing that I love to do most. I love having the fate of a big game in my hands. As a freshman, I pitched my team to a win in the first round of the state playoffs. I have always used control and my change-up to my advantage, and I am working hard to gain velocity and to continue to develop my curveball. Over the past year, I have grown from 5'9 to 6'3 and have been working out every day to gain velocity as I grow. Academically, I am enrolled in one of the top STEM high schools in the country, and am a student in the Ingenuity Project, a science and math magnet program that takes the top 5% of students in Baltimore City. Nobody in your program will work harder than me. In many of the summer camps I have attended, I have won awards for hard work and character, including the Naval Academy Summer Camp Leadership Award. I hope I have the opportunity to work hard and to have an impact on your program.
