Personal Statement
My name is Dylan Stevens, and I am an incoming senior at Beverly High School in Massachusetts in the Class of 2016. I play baseball for my school's varsity baseball team, and it is my dream to continue to play baseball in college. I believe that with the right mindset, confidence, and a lot of hard work, I can achieve whatever I set my mind to.
I am a pitcher and outfielder for my school's ball team. In the past, I have also played basketball, football, cross country, and track. Throughout high school, I have made some significant improvements to my game in pitching, fielding, and hitting. From my freshman year to junior year, I have gained close to 15 MPH on my fastball, starting in the high 60s and now in the low 80s. In fielding, I have mainly improved on my speed and agility. At the plate, I have immensely improved my contact and power. I also have put on close to 40 pounds onto my frame from lots of hard work in the weight room. My max squat is 365 pounds, and my max dead lift is 405 pounds. I plan on improving all of these numbers substantially in the time until my freshman year of college.
From now until next spring, I plan on improving myself as a ballplayer and as a person. In next year's season, my goal is to touch 90 MPH, and live in the high eighties. My mechanics will be the main focus, and I will work on making myself a more efficient and deceptive pitcher. I will further work on my accuracy and control, and try to make my breaking ball into a college ready pitch. My goal squat is 450 pounds, my goal dead lift is 500 pounds, and I would like to weigh around 200-205 pounds.
I thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter. If you think that I would be a good fit for your team, or if you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to call or email me, as I am always available to talk. These next two years, I will be working the hardest I ever have worked in order to prepare myself for the college level through diet, weight training, skills work, and mental training. Playing baseball in college has always been something I dreamed about, and I think that with enough work, I will possess the skills necessary to help your team win.
