My goal is to play baseball in college at a school that can offer me a great baseball experience, but equally importantly one that can challenge me academically. I am entering my junior year at the Brooks School, which is part of the competitive Independent School League (ISL). In part, baseball afforded me an opportunity to attend Brooks that I might not have been able to have if I was just another good student. The coach at Brooks watched me work out for my club team (Northeast Hurricanes) and helped secure me a financial aid package that made it affordable for my parents. I'm thankful every day for that opportunity because I know that there are a lot of student athletes out there that would love to be able to attend prep school. I maintain a 3.95 GPA with a challenging course load.
What I would want you to know about me is that I am driven, a hard worker and competitive person, who hates to lose, but always carries myself with dignity and sportsmanship. Above everything else I pride myself on being a team player and a good teammate. I am an extremely versatile player who literally plays all 9 positions on the field. In fact though I hadn't played catcher for a while I picked it back up again this summer when my teammate got injured. For my high school team I became the starting varsity shortstop the first game of my freshman year. For my club team I move around a lot depending on who's pitching and who else might be in or out of the lineup. I hit lead off and led my team in hitting. This summer I played at lot of middle infield, all 3 outfield spots and pitched. In fact I was fortunate enough to pitch in three tournament championship games this summer including the Perfect Game Super 25 in which I pitched a complete game shutout. We won that game 1-0 and it qualified us to play in Nationals.
There are a lot of individual accomplishments and events that I am proud about, but I'm probably most proud of how my teammates respond to me and how much we support each other. I was honored to be selected by my teammates as a Captain for the upcoming 2017 season at Brooks. This is a rare feat for someone who is only a Junior. I'm looking forward to rewarding the trust that they have placed in me.
I would encourage you to not take my word for this but please do reach out to my coaches that I have listed on my reference page. I'm looking forward to speaking with you in the near future!
Best Regards,
Connor Breen
