2023 SpotlightDear Coaches,
Faith and purpose are something I strive to form my identity in. Both are things I bring intentional and specific intent to improve. The same intent I bring on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. I take great pride in my academic work ethic and discipline, also traits I take initiative into carrying on the field. Balancing my studies/career goals and my sports is something I know is very important at all levels, and I think I am capable of doing so at the next one, and throughout my life. I do not believe my identity is a "baseball player", and I do believe getting to play the game is a gift, but the influence I can have on others is what I measure as success. However, by no means does that say I approach the mental and physical preparation and demand in any other way than head-on. I believe I have been gifted the tools necessary to an intense competitor and a natural leader in everything I do, however, I also believe in humility and coachability greatly.
I have been 3-sport athlete, at Hellgate High School in Missoula, Montana. For the past two seasons, I have played for the Missoula Mavericks Legion Baseball Club, starting at the B level, and now at the AA Level. I have been a primary catcher and outfielder now, but have played all over the field in years past. That has allowed me to grow as an effective communicator behind the plate, with pitchers and with my coaches as well. All of which have naturally grown my baseball IQ. The work ethic and complete commitment to the game compels me to strive to be my best physical self. However, I also prioritize and firmly believe in building a sound mental approach and growth mindset. I have taken more of an initiative to work on those aspects of my game, as well as my preparation. I intend to bring faithful principles I value, onto the diamond, into the classroom, and to all other aspects of life.
Outside of baseball, I play Quarterback at Hellgate High, and also play basketball during the winter. Just this past year, I became the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle Leader. I intend to utilize its influence its had on my ability to compete and walk throughout life, to hopefully inspire others to do the same. This along with student body representation, has shaped me into becoming a cooperative peer, who looks to help others succeed. I like to be challenged in the classroom, just as much as I do as an athlete. I have taken honors classes in years past to help give me a better idea of the field of study I wish to seek-out, and I plan to find a fit in Cardiology, specialized PT or something in the health & science field. I currently have upheld a 4.0 GPA. I believe I can have a positive impact on any programs community, on the field, and off of it. I am looking to take advantage of any opportunity I receive throughout my recruitment process, and have dedicated myself to doing so.
I thank you for taking the time to read this.
