Bullpen 10/11/21It was my Freshman year, the day of the junior-varsity baseball tryouts. I was nervous throughout the whole day, waiting for school to end. School had finally ended, I then got on the bus and left to where the tryouts were held. Tryouts had ended, I personally think that I had done quite well, but one of the coaches approached me with a somber look. He tells me the result of my tryout for the team. I had landed myself as the team manager for the JV team. I was beyond disappointed, completely embarrassed, and was dreading the moment when I had to tell my parents. But the next day, I had awakened with a new ambition, to progress myself to become a Varsity pitcher. For the rest of that season, the following summer, and every moment that I had available, I was doing everything I could to become at least 1% better every day. I began regularly going to the gym to gain strength and endurance, I spent countless nights staying up into the early morning researching everything about baseball and pitching that I could. I delved into the science behind pitching and what had made each and every pitcher great on their own. Progress-wise, my Freshman Year I had topped at 72mph, later going up to 76mph by my Sophomore year. By my Junior year, I was up to 80mph. Over the course of this a year and a half, I had completely changed myself when it came to the game of baseball, gaining 8 miles per hour on my fastball. This allowed me to finally make the Varsity team as a pitcher by my Junior year, therefore completing my initial goal. This Senior year, I am now up to 86mph, having gained 6mph since my Junior year, with more gains to come.
