Personal Statement

My name is Ben Flanders, I’m from the class of 2021. I am currently a junior with a 6'0" 175 lb. frame from Merrimack, NH who attends Merrimack High School. I have a medium build and frame, solid athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. I’m primarily a catcher with quickness through my footwork, and arm strength up to 75 mph and can consistently throw out base-runners. I also give our pitchers confidence to stay down in the zone because of my ability to block and receive pitches well.   At the plate, I start with a spread stance, slightly open base, high back elbow, and a simple leg lift timing mechanism. I normally shift well to the ball with a loose, extended hand path. I have strength through the ball with ability to lift and drive.

I enjoy the lessons that athletic competition has taught me: the pursuit of excellence comes from personal development, responsible behavior on the field and off, leadership, strength of character, and sportsmanship. I understand that you must earn an opportunity to play; there are no guarantees. I plan on being selfless, going to class, and becoming a leader on and off the field. I understand, that college baseball is about the team, and you only get what you earn.

I envision my college years to be a personal growth period. My goal is to challenge myself academically and explore a Mathematics / Applied Science major that will position me well for my professional career. I also have a true love for the game of baseball. It has always been my goal to play baseball after High School and continue down that path. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my baseball career, I will always strive to be an asset to my team. I am open to playing anywhere, provided there is a high-quality academic experience available.

Thank you for your time.

Ben Flanders

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
