The biggest lesson I have learned playing this sport is that being strong mentally is just as, if not more, important as the physical side of things. I’ve learned that to become the best player you can be, you need to have the mental toughness to move on to the next play after making a mistake. I’ve also learned that to keep playing the game takes more and more work, sacrifice, and commitment each day. These lessons extend far past the game of baseball and have helped me become a better student because to succeed in the classroom, you have to be committed to the work.
I have many great role models in my life, including my parents, who have greatly influenced who I am as a person and player. I learned from these people that hard work will always pay off, which has already proved to be true. Baseball has always been a huge part of my life and my family. My uncle played in the Major leagues, my cousin in the minors, another uncle D1, and another cousin currently playing at the D1 level.
My academic goals for the rest of high school are to continue to work for good grades, stay on the first honor roll, and keep pushing myself with honors/AP classes. I am always willing to put in the work to become better. I am very optimistic, a good teammate, and a leader on and off the field.
