My name is Karl Fiske and I am a 21 year old right-handed pitcher. I am looking to further my education while continuing to play baseball. Currently, I attend Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, N.J., and am working on earning my associates degree. I would like to continue my education at a four year college with a major in biology, as I am interested in health and nutrician.
I live in Manasquan, N.J., where I attended elementary through high school. During my years growing up, I played on many travel and all-star teams. In addition to pitching, I have played and know quite well, the positions of catcher and first base. In high school, I played varsity level, sophmore through senior year as a starter for my team. Senior year, I made the Carpenter Cup Jersey Shore Team, as well as the All-Monmouth County Team, and the New Jersey Scholastic Baseball Coaches Top 100 players in the State All Star Game. The Coast star, a local newspaper, named me Athlete of the Spring 2009 for baseball.
After high school,I decided to attend Brookdale Community College, where I played on the baseball team for two years. I pitched mainly as a closer, but also as a spot starter. I feel I was an asset to the team in both of those roles and appreciate the importance of each. I believe I was a strong leader on the team, who encouraged and pushed others, as well as myself, to be better and to suceed at the game of baseball. At Brookdale, I feel I have grown as a student and an athlete.
Currently, I am training very hard, pitching and working out. I am a hard-throwing righty with five pitches that move in all directions. I work on hitting my spot depending on what the situation calls for and am throwing in the low to mid-nineties. I always strive to get the job done right.
In addition to school, I am also working as a pitching and hitting instructor for Big League Talent at the Sports Center, Wall Twp., N.J. Between working as an instructor, and my own pitching sessions, I am constantly working on the bio-mechanics of all aspects of baseball.
Baseball is a big part of my life and I am willing to do what it takes to suceed in college, both in the classroom, and on the baseball field.
