Personal Statement
At age 6, I was introduced to baseball and I instantly fell in love with the sport. My father began to work with me at an early age on my mechanics and fundamentals. He coached me on multiple teams and is still my coach today. He instilled a work ethic and mindset in me that that has driven me in every sport I play. He said “Son, if you want to be great, then you have to be dedicated, work hard, and have the ability to persevere through struggles and challenges you face in your baseball career.” My father has been my biggest supporter and influence. He has given me great opportunities to play this amazing sport and has led me through every step of the way.
I currently use this same mindset in my academics as well. I am an honor student, and intend to graduate as valedictorian in high school and cum laude in college. If baseball has taught me anything, to get through struggles you have to have a good work ethic and that you aren’t in control of everything. Sometimes you don’t know why something is going on and you have to go to the Lord and ask for understanding, wisdom, and endurance.
I’m looking for a program where I can get great coaching and where I can improve my abilities not only on the field, but off the field as well. I know I’m young and have a long way to go, but I believe in a few years I’ll be ready to make a difference on your team.
