Evan Vigna '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Evan Vigna and I am a 5"11", 220 pound first baseman from McAdoo Pennsylvania.  I will graduate in the 2012 class from Hazleton Area High School and currently hold a 3.1 GPA.  I had varsity experience as a sophmore and was a varsity starter/ letter winner at first base my junior year for my high school team.  In addition, I have 8 years experience playing travel baseball with the Eckley Reds as well as 3 years on a Legion Baseball. team.  I was named to the Wyoming Conference Legion All-Star baseball team this year.

As a senior, I realize I am starting this recruiting process late, but it has been a long time dream of mine to play NCAA baseball.  I am most interested in a mid - sized school on the East Coast from New York to Virginia.  I am looking to obtain a degree in Industrial Technology or Sports Management.  I believe my best fit would be the at DII level, but I am willing to explore opportunities at any division.

I consider myself to be a very good defensive player at first base, with excellent game instincts and an overall awareness of the game.  I believe I demonstrate patience at the plate as is evidenced by my on base percentage of .623 and can hit to all fields.  Coaches have told me I  have good power and I continue to work hard now in the off season to continue to improve my playing skills and agility.  

My high school coaches have complimented me on my leadership skills.  I feel it is important to mentor underclassmen just as I was when I was a freshman.  I always look to keep players motivated in the dugout and hustle on and off the field with pride despite the score. 

I have had a love for this game since I was a little leaguer.  I  am committed to the game and believe I possess dedication and drive.  I hope I will see my dream of playing baseball on the collegiate level fulfilled.
