My name is Lucas Dawson. I am a 5'9" 186 lb. 2025 catcher. I was the starting catcher for Summit High School Varsity (TN) during the 2023 season under coach Chad Kirby. This summer (2023), I will be playing for Knights National 16U coached by Chad Biles and will be at most of the major PG/PBR/MPL tournaments in the Southeast. In the last 12 months, I've earned multiple PG All Tournament Team awards. I love the game of baseball and serious about playing with a college program with a strong culture. I respect the game, love my teammates, and commit to being a quick learner for my coaches. I promise to bring a positive energy and a winning attitude to a top-level team.
Catcher is my primary position, but I am confident I can play any position on the field as necessary. As a hitter, I typically hit middle of the lineup and have the history to hit for power and on-base percentage. My strengths as a catcher are (1) receiving (2) pop time (3) field control. I help pitchers by bringing out-of-zone pitches into strikes often. I also have an active arm with a 2.1 sec current pop time (recorded by PG and PBR).
I train weekly with Will Haynie (Univ. Alabama / Colorado Rockies) on catching and hitting. I spent most every day in the weight room leading up to this high school season.
