John Oliverio (Trey) '25 Recruiting Profile

I’ve loved baseball from a young age. When I was 2, I played baseball in my playroom and had my parents set up a mini train track on top of the window sill so that I could pretend I was playing at Minute Maid Park. I’ve always loved the sport and wanted to be able to play it as much as I could. My dad is a 6A basketball coach, so I grew up in the gym, learning what it takes to be a successful athlete - putting in work on my own outside of practice is imperative to success. I remember from a young age my dad telling one of his teams “You have to hate to lose before you can love to win.” As much as I enjoy winning games and district championships with baseball and basketball, the games that I remember the most are the ones I lost. I ask my parents to film every game so that I can go back and study to get better.

As a multi-sport athlete, the hard work that it takes to be successful on the field has not hindered my ability to succeed in the classroom. When I broke my hand playing baseball when I was 12, a pediatric sports medicine doctor made a cast that was specific to my sport so that I could continue working out and stay in shape. I’m taking health science classes so that one day, I’ll be ready for med school so that I can help people, too. I already have a very high GPA and ACT score and am hoping to improve to a 34, I also hope to stay in the top 10% of my class. I am excited about continuing my high school career and I feel that I have the ability to make a difference at the collegiate level as well.
