My name is Connor Fisk, and I am in the Class of 2022 at Legacy the School of Sport Sciences located in Spring, Texas.
The game of baseball has taught me not only to work to the best of my abilities as an athlete, but also to be a good and effective leader. I have held the title of Varsity Team Captain for the past three years. I view this position as an opportunity to motivate my teammates on the field and in the classroom. Whether it’s school work, baseball, or life issues, I am always there for them, and they trust me to give 100 percent effort to help.
For the past five years, I have played in the catcher position. Prior to that, I played first base, so I am accustomed to making quick strategic assessments, being flexible on my feet, and using my body to make difficult plays. I take pride in my situational awareness and blocking skills as a catcher. If my pitcher can trust that an 0-2 curveball in the dirt will be converted to an out, I have done my job. The experience behind the plate has given me the opportunity to enhance my mental IQ. My coaches consider me coachable and have full faith in my ability to call shifts, bunt coverages, to back-pick first and third, direct cutoffs, etc. I’ve worked hard to make that specific strategy of baseball become second nature to me.
As a high school student-athlete preparing to go to college, I not only look forward to the opportunity to play for and represent a university on the field, I also want to represent the university in the classroom. I’m currently number 1 in my class with a GPA of 4.1. I am enrolled in the University of Texas On Ramps Dual Enrollment Program, which has allowed me to gain college credits. My mind is set on one thing…success. I will not be satisfied until I am the best version of myself.
