July 2012
August, 2011My name is Garrett Bowman. I am 6'4" and weigh 210 lbs. I am a right-handed pitcher. I also play 1st base. I have been playing baseball since I was 5 years old. I played club baseball with the Roy Storm from age 9 - 14. This team played in many competitive leagues in surrounding cities and also the Rocky Mountain Baseball League. I was a starting player for Roy Jr. High during my 7th, 8th, and 9th grade years. I pitched during my 8th and 9th grade seasons. I was voted team captain during my 8th and 9th grade seasons. I played American Legion baseball with the Roy Royals in the summer prior to my sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. I played Varsity baseball during my sophomore season. I was a relief pitcher and made 4 appearances with 4 saves. I also started one Varsity game, going 6 2/3 innings with a 5-2 win. I was a starting pitcher my junior year. I was voted Most Valuable Pitcher by my coaches and teammates for the 2012 season. I was also named 1st Team All-Region V and was an All-Area Honorable Mention for the 2012 season. I was the starting QB on the Roy High School sophomore football team and was the starting QB for the Junior Varsity football team. I was elected team captain both years. I have the drive and determination that has made me a better player in all sports I have participated in. I will do whatever work is necessary to make myself better. I arrive at school early before class to workout and lift with my strength coach and other teammates. This work has improved my bench and squat weights and has helped me in all sports I play. I throw inside at school to keep my arm motion and flexibility. I also have a net and tee in my basement I use for hitting practice. I feel my work ethic is very strong and has allowed me to participate and be a starter on all of these teams. I try to lead by example to my teammates and my successes have been due to the great teammates and coaches I have. I would like to play baseball at the college level and continue to develop my skills at this level. I don't have a preference as to school size or division level. If possible, I would like to play somewhere in the western states. I plan on majoring in pre-med or a field of sports medicine. I think with continued work through high school, I could be a pitcher at the next level and would look forward to the opportunity to work with college level coaches to develop my talents more.
