During college, I am excited to learn more about myself and how I can make a positive impact on my community and world around me. I love to travel and learn about other cultures so I would like to study abroad as a part of that experience. For most of my life, I was pursuing the highest levels of gymnastics. When I was six, I started training TOPS and was on the US National TOPS team at seven. At that point I was also invited to developmental camps where I trained with the US National coaches. I competed at the highest levels of gymnastics for my age, Hopes (pre-elite), until I retired from the sport. But none of that came easy for me. My sisters both did gymnastics and my coach used to joke that it was sheer determination and hard work that got me to the levels I achieved. My sisters has natural artistry, flexibility and lines. I did not. I had to work that much harder and smarter and in some cases much braver as I had to make sure my difficulty level would make up for my laking in the other areas. Even while training 36 hours a week at the gym, I also kept up my grades, a maintained a 4.0 GPA. Cheerleading was a great next step for me after gymnastics. It allowed me to maintain tumbling and my gymnastics experience helped me learn new stunting skills. What I love the most about cheerleading is the team camaraderie. Having a team to be there for all the highs - like making a difference in the community, winning a game or competition, but also to support you through challenges - has been such an important part of my high school experience. I believe I would make a positive impact on a college cheer program. I bring a positive attitude to training and in supporting my teammates. I am a hard worker in and out of the classroom. I also believe I will make a positive difference in the school community through service and helping others.
