I’ve been on a team sport since I was six years old, and I value what being part of a team means- commitment, hard conversations, overcoming personal and team challenges, winning with grace and losing with determination to come back stronger and better for the next time.
Being on a team while an honor student has not been easy, but the work has been worth it. Our family motto is “it’s ok to do hard things.” Cheer, track, softball and honor roll throughout the school year is a “hard thing,” but it has stretched me and given me confidence. I am stronger physically, emotionally and mentally because of it.
At this time, my educational plans are leaning toward nursing. A career that requires team work, being physically strong for those who are weak, emotionally strong for those who feel they have nothing left, and mentally strong for those who are overwhelmed with the next steps they have to walk through. Being on sport for so many years has prepared me well to take on this next challenge in life
I can’t wait to contribute to a college team, and see what new adventures I’ll be a part of.
