Welcome and thank you for your time! I hope you'll find this information helpful in understanding who I am, what brought me to this point and my hopes for the future. I found field hockey as a Freshman in high school where I was a field player and also tried out the Goalie position. I quickly realized being a Goalie was the position for me. I moved up to Varsity my Sophomore year as the teams starting Goalie and loved it so much I also joined San Jose Fly Field Hockey Club as a Goalie.
Committing to being part of field hockey teams and doing everything possible to improve as a Goalie wasn't always easy. My parents divorced a few years before I started playing and my Dad had to move several hours away. I was living with my Mom, who worked full time at a difficult job which meant that I had to do many things on my own. This meant getting myself to practices and games and making sure that I was also keeping my grades up and taking care of my other activities, like leadership and volunteering. I wanted to play so badly that I didn't mind dragging my heavy goalie bag in and out of the car of whoever could give me a ride or down the street for long distances, if it meant I could play.
Playing Field Hockey has given me so much! I have realized that I can achieve great things when I put my mind to it and when I work hard .Now that I've found this sport that I love, I don't want to stop playing and would love an opportunity to continue to play in College. I know that I will be able to bring a lot to a field hockey team with my skills in leadership, my ability to really support and lift up my teammates and my dedication to working as hard as possible to improve my skills and support my team. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you about opportunities you may have to continue to play as a Goalie in College.
