Personal Statement
Hello!
It’s been an exciting journey as I research schools and pursue my dream of playing field hockey at the collegiate level. Hard to believe I picked up my first stick at the young age of seven, encouraged by my coach to press on. Little did I know something fun would evolve with such passion and commitment. Playing for Sprit of USA since the U10 level helped me to grow as an athlete, a teammate and an individual. And being part of a competitive team motivates me, gives me confidence and pushes me to work harder. My teammates are like family and I love working together towards a common goal. Whether it be practice or a game, I focus on bringing my best to the field, not just for me but for my team.
I have great appreciation and gratitude for the coaches who have guided me through the years. Listening, being respectful and trusting in their experience helped shape me into the player I am today. I owe a lot to my coaches (club and high school) who pushed me out of my comfort level by placing me in positions I hadn’t played before. They taught me that change can be positive, that I am a dynamic player, a smart athlete and a strong link to the team success. Ultimately I proved them right as a flexible player able to apply skills with confidence in various positions.
My goals on the field are matched by my work ethic in the classroom. I play hard and study harder. I earn my academic accomplishments through sacrifice and dedication and have my parents as role models to thank, both work harder than anyone I know. Above all I am blessed for their support and encouragement. My parents taught me to be strong yet flexible, focused not rigid, determined yet easy-going, loyal and real.
As I look to the next chapter, I aspire to find a school and a field hockey team where I can continue to grow as a person and a player, paving the way for future opportunities.
Thank you for your interest.
