Personal Statement
I thought that winning the New Jersey Olympic Conference-National Division championship as a starting goalie my freshman year would be the highlight of my high school career. Following that up the same season with a New Jersey Non-Public South Championship made for a new highlight. Repeating as Olympic Conference-National Division and Non-Public South Champions my sophomore year made me realize that the sky is the limit for what has so far been an amazing high school career.
I was named a starter half way through my freshman season with the expectation of leading the program to repeat Conference and State titles. Though we fell one game short of capturing a State Title, the confidence that my teammates and coaches instilled in me made me the student-athlete that I am today.
My teammates elected me as a team Captain this season. As one of only two returning starters, this has helped me to develop into a confident leader, role model for the underclass man, on the field cheerleader and even more conscientious student. I choose to lead by example both athletically and academically.
Because I am smaller in stature, I feel that I am often overlooked as a potential collegiate player. My height does not define the person I am nor does it reflect the sprint and grit with which I play. I have learned to use what some may call a disadvantage to motivate me to work harder and focus on my strengths of speed, quickness, agility, game sense, situational awareness and communication.
I am not ready for my field hockey journey to end and as a two sport Varsity athlete and team Captain, I am ready to bring all of my strengths, improve upon my weaknesses and be an asset to your program and university.
