Personal Statement
The person that has influenced my sports career and my life these past few years has to be my mom, Jennifer Siciliano. She played field hockey herself all through high school and 2 years of college. Since she is so familiar with the sport, she knows when I need to focus on a certain aspect, skill, or even when to work with my team and not just focus individually. Since I am just a sophomore in my high school career, I am still in a “new but slowly understanding” mindset to the teamwork aspect. The most important thing that I have learned about myself throughout these past two years, in field hockey and in general life, is that when I want something, I will fight for it, no matter what I have to go through to get it.
The most important aspects of life for me are hard work and a good attitude that comes with it. The statement “life isn’t fair” has come up many times this past year for me and really made me think and only made me become a better person. Some athletes will get handed a D1 scholarship easily, but in reality there's always someone out there that deserves it more because their work ethic and good attitude towards everything life throws at them, is just better. Personally, being raised to always work for the things I want in life the most has changed me and made me become the person I am today. The last thing that I think I have, that not many people can manage is having a fun, sweet, and outgoing personality on and off the field while having that drive to be successful in life.
