Kyla Ross '23 Recruiting Profile

  Hello! My name is Kyla Ross.  This year, I am a 16 year old Junior at Massaponax High school in Spotsylvania, VA.  My set graduating year is 2023.  I first started playing field hockey when I was about  6, and played on our Parks and Recreation teams until I was about 11.  I then started playing U12 Travel for High Voltage Field Hockey.  I've been with High Voltage since U12 and now play U19 as a defender.  I play both Indoor and Outdoor with High Voltage.  My freshman year I had a foot injury going into the season, therefore, I was a defensive JV starter.  Once I healed, I was brought up to play Varsity and lettered my freshman year.  My sophomore year I was a starter on  Varsity as a central defender, but I also feel comfortable playing left or right. My Freshman year, we won Regionals for the first time in school history, and my Sophomore year we won Districts for the first time!

 I am looking to play mainly at the D3 or D2 level, with coaches and players that treat each other with love, respect and have a passion for Field Hockey.  I am competitive, so a team that also has that same drive to help each other, and to win is awesome! I am a very aggressive, encouraging and coachable player.  I'm always open at trying new skills and to better my current skills to continue helping me as a player. Having an uplifting and supportive coach is very important to me!

 I am a great student and I take my education very seriously.  I currently have a 4.16  GPA. Like I stated earlier, I am competitive in ALL aspects so I would love a school that will challenge me not only on the field but also in the classroom.  I'm not completely sure on my major, but my top three right now are Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or in Child Development/Clinical Psychology studies ( to become a Child Psychologist).  I would prefer a smaller school, so I could get more one on one time with the professors.  Though, I am open to any school that has one of my preferred majors and a welcoming team!
